Confessions of A Shopaholic (Movie)
Rebecca Bloomwood may be a shopaholic but she, too, could be a victim of social culture, where she was brought up in a world where people use plastic cards to purchase practically anything they wanted, without knowing how that later on, as she spends on credit, it will haunt her everywhere and could almost ruin her personality.
After the “national embarrassment” she experienced while being a guest on a TV show, Rebecca tried to make amends with the help of her parents who were always there for her to support her with the financing problems she had to face. She had to sell all the things that she purchased not only because she didn’t have anymore space in the apartment that she shares with her best friend Suze but also to pay back all the debts she owed that has haunted her for months. By doing these things, Rebecca was able to regain her friendship with her best friend that was almost lost because of her addiction to shopping. Though she left her job as a writer, she has learned to control her finances and shopping spree seemed just like a thing of the past as Rebecca has met her future partner in life through her former boss, Luke Brandon who later put up his own business.
A Shopaholic like Rebecca is just like any other “addicts” who are victims of society, that if you don’t know how to control yourself to doing something to make you “IN,” you will be later pushed to things like these until you become addicted to it and can’t control yourself anymore. But if there are people who can help and support you to take control of your life, you can still recover from it and still be able to reach your goals and be successful in life.
“Confessions of a Shopaholic” is a movie by P.J. Hogan based from an inspiring book by Sophie Kinsella.
